Corinne Dean is an artist because she decided so at age 5, and never changed her mind.
She earned her BFA at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, the city where she was born and raised.
Her work, whether sewn, drawn, or painted, is mostly inspired by childhood stories and fairy tales and the flora and fauna that surround them. Particularly, the mystery that a single illustration or image can create when taken out of context and viewed on its own. One begins to look at these images differently, creating a new story...their own story from the clues the drawing provides. Looking at pictures in this way is, again, something she started doing around age 5 and never stopped.
Corinne resides in Chicago, IL with her husband and two children.
